Lancaster County Food Exchange is a mobile web application that allows procurement volunteers at food pantries and community kitchens in Lancaster County to communicate their surplus items and items they have requests for (we call them "Needs") . Each posting is communicated to all participants via email or text report 2x daily -if the volunteer so chooses.
Lancaster County Food Exchange is a free service to all volunteers at pantries around Lancaster County. The only requirement is an email address and a cell phone or laptop. Upon registration by the volunteer at the LCFE site, The LCFE team will enable their account and the fun begins!
The Exchange mobile web application design is underway and planning to allow volunteers to easily add and review inventory of food across all participating members. We have received two grants from foundations in Lancaster County to begin the final programming.
Lancaster County Food Exchange has received a 501(c)(3) tax exemption from the Internal Revenue Service. This means that any group or foundation that wishes to participate will receive a tax exemption on their donation. If you wish to participate in our mission by donating, please use the Contact Us form below.
Our mission is to increase communication among all of the volunteers who work so hard to get quality food to Lancaster County families facing food insecurity. In the amazing Lancaster County growing area, one of the most fertile, non-irrigated areas of the US, people still need fresh food. We provide a simple way to communicate availability of produce, protein and bakery items so that none of these go to waste.
